Big Muff PI and Bass Boost Pedal Video.

This is my video of the Big Muff and Bass Boost pedal working. I did some touch up work on the circuit board to help the excess static I was getting. I was able to re-solder the joints and clean up the work a bit.

My Steampunk Bass Guitar Stomp Pedal

For the longest time I have been looking into getting a stomp pedal for my Bass. I had looked into many different options of what I was looking for. The fuzz style of pedal seemed to be the best sounding for a bass guitar. I then found the one I wanted to get it was the Big Muff PI. It had very good reviews, so I looked into buying one and found they ranged from 60 to around 120. Depending on the style you got.

Naturally I thought about how I could make one. With my cousin getting into making circuit boards for his car's tail lights, it got me thinking. I looked into it on google and found a site that gives you the build of material, wire diagrams and circuit layout. So I started into the search for parts and pieces to start my build. After salvaging what I could from past pedals and equipment that I no longer used or wanted, I found many of the parts I needed. The others I bought either off a circuitry website or Radioshack. I ended up only paying out about $20.

Once I found all the parts that I needed to get started I came across the fact I did not have a case for this pedal only the guts. So instead of buying the box I decided to make one from wood and try to steampunk the whole thing. Since I do have a love for Steampunk. I found some old single sided circuit board and decided I would use that to make a copper top and sides for all the components to stick out of since the wood was too thick.

The wiring process was not to bad. The 9 connections on the stomp switch got a little confusing, but It only took me about an hour to solder all the connection.

The circuit board was a little to small for me to really feel comfortable soldering and drawing out the board, so I decided to make it a little larger. This worked out since I wanted more area to decorate the box.

I also had a few decorative gears and emblems that I had collected from past projects and kept them because I figured I would use them.

Once done I tested the box out and I had some problems with the circuitry that I had laid out, but I was able to figure them out and fix them.
After getting this one working and working well I decided that I wanted a Bass booster as well so I looked into the build of one. I found that it was actually smaller and took less components, and I had most of the parts that it needed. I ordered the few parts that were required that I did not have already.

The two effects pedals together made a great sound that I had been looking for. I had the sound control of the fuzz pedal and the boost for the signal.

I would post the schematics and guidelines I followed, but I can't. I found everything to build these at www.generalguitargadgets.com

How about a little Steampunk for my iPhone?

I think yes.

I decided that I wanted to try my hand in making an iPhone case out of wood.
It was difficult to say the least. It took two try's to get it right. The first had a lot of problems with pieces breaking off, and holes not being lined up because everything was measured with the phone facing the wrong way. Once I figured out how to measure and set things up properly I tried again and it was successful at least I think so. I know not everything is perfect in the shapes and cutouts, but that is what gives it the steampunk character.

Inside the Blunderbus

This gun started out as a rubberband gun. I added some various gauges and then a 3 in pipe with some ends. I used some of the locktite two part putty to attach a lot of the devices. Some pieces are screwed on to attach. I also added a battery pack to run a few wires to a switch behind the trigger. This eventually will become the power source for the led's i'm going to install inside the barrel to make it glow. I have since removed the chain and handle in the front to make it look better. This gun attaches to my backpack to give it the feel of a steam powered fireball launcher.

I have some new additions to my steampunk garb

Steampunk

Soooo....... I decided (on a wild tangent and a streak of not having a project to do) to try my hand in doing some steampunk stuffs. Of course in true Jason fashion I took it way to far and never quit. I made way to many things and am still going. I forgot to take some pictures along the way, but at least I got some of the finished products. I'll make sure my next big gun the one that has been in my mind from the beginning it will have pictures of progress and finished. The first time time I ever heard of steampunk I thought about making the gun I will be doing next.

Here are the works I have done so far.
